Taking Telluride in for the 3rd time since July for no freon. 1st time no leak found, said was low from factory. 2nd time said was small leak, kept for 2 weeks. Checked everywhere including where the system is connected under the SUV that people had reported leaks. It's been hot lately in South, so while at the beach discovered AC was again not working. Anyone have a similar issue and possible fix?

Same here. 3 times and still not fixed. Back to dealership next week.
ignore what you want..good luck trying to get Kia to cover it...I have a feeling you won't get too far.
Why?
This isn't a Kia problem, it is something that happens very infrequently and with almost every car maker out there. It's just being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Just google it and you will see people from different brands posting about it. It is damage from road debris, which should be covered by your insurance company.
If kia would make a better and stronger front grill this would not happen. Seems after one year of owning a Kia Telluride our transmission broke- AC doesn’t work - tapping sound from engine and now they are replacing motor. Not with a new one. If you read the warranty Kia has the right to replace with used parts. Including AC- transmission- engine and mostly every dam part !!! That 100,000 mile warranty is crap !
Also was just told I have damage to my condenser (no damage to grill) on 2020 Telluride that won’t be covered. $1700 to repair (once he can locate a new condenser) at Liberty Kia in IL. Service manager claims he hasn’t seen this on Telluride. I’ll try to take/attach photos once I pick up vehicle today.
We got the Telly back Monday- we hade it for two days and it’s back at the dealership. We know the eng had a problem but yesterday it overheated. I’m so done with this $55,000 pice of crap.
Hi everyone, I just joined this forum, and I also frustrated with the AC in my Telly. About 2 weeks ago my AC blowing only warm air, took it to the stealer, I was told that they have to perform AC service $250, which includes a dye, and drive the car for few days and see what happens, so the AC worked for 2 weeks, and today blowing warm air again. Obviously there is a leak somewhere, so taking it back tomorrow and see what they can find. definitely there is a quality issue with Telly's AC system.
Our 2020 telluride is also currently in the shop. They say a rock must have damaged it and so of course it's not covered. We're being quoted $2200!!! Anyone have ANY luck at all dealing with kia customer service? Also, we've had the car less than a year so shouldn't refrigerant be covered even if the repair is not?
So took my Telly back to the dealer as requested, and the technician detected a leak in the condenser, but they don’t know what caused it. Seems like a quality issue to me, I think KIA should issue a recall to rectify the problem. I am just happy that they said it is covered by the basic warranty, ooff!!
Off course the part is on back order, so now waiting for it to arrive and go back in for replacement hopefully 🤞
Today, I called Kia consumer affairs and got a case number, and I was told that They will contact my dealer to expedite the repairs, but the real problem is that the condenser is on backorder, so I guess the ball is in Kia’s court, I don’t know how long they will drag this before they issue a recall. This is not a damage due to a rock, this is a quality issue.
After Fighting with Kia for over 3 weeks, the dealer received the part yesterday, and I went in to replace it this morning, and after they took the whole front facia apart they realized that stupid Kia send them the wrong condenser, so now I am back to square one. I am so frustrating with Kia. So the dealer placed another order for the condenser and who knows how many weeks will take Kia to send the right one. I love the Telly but unfortunately it has quality issues and Kia not helping.
I’m here at Kia dealership for 3 rd time. No AC. Bill is $1800. I’m not paying it.
New Condenser 2020-2021 Kia Telluride A/C Condenser - TYC 30171 - - PartsGeek.com, about $200 for an independent shop to vac and refill the system, no way would I pay over $1k for a condenser replacement. Kia is straight up ripping people off. I have had one condenser fail in 35 years of driving and it wasn’t a new vehicle.
Currently experiencing this same issue! My AC started blowing hot air. Called dealership and even before scheduling an appointment the lady said “we just had a situation in which a rock caused damage to condenser and warranty did not cover it.” So we were basically told exactly what was going to be wrong with my car before even going. Only 3000 miles on my brand new car. Was told a rock hit the condenser and it leaked all my Freon. $1,500 to repair!
Had similar issue with a/c blowing hot air while driving on a 2020 with 11k miles. My post from another forum:

They told me it was fixed and ready today. From the invoice:

CS AC IS BLOWING WARM
Cause: CONFIRMED A/C INOP, SCANNED FOR CODES, FOUND B124111 EVAP TEMP SENSOR SHORT. CONFIRMED SENSOR OUT OF RANGE TESTED AT 289.7 OHMS, SPEC IS 5.81-43.35 KOHMS N/G. ORDERED SENSOR.
Correction: REMOVED EVAP TEMP SENSOR & REPLACED WITH NEW PART, CONFIRMED PROPER OPERATION OF A/C SYSTEM L/O 97603R00 Thermistor, R&R 4.00 ADD EVAC/RECHARGE L/O 09760A0AA/C REFRIGERANT RECOVERY & CHARGING(R-1234YF)0.80

Needless to say, the a/c blows cold when the Telluride is stationary, but when I drove it a few miles from the dealership to the nearest gas station, the a/c does not blow cold air at all while in motion. This was the case on the way to the gas station and then the return trip to the dealership.

I know it has been some time since the beginning of this post...but I am wondering if anyone has had any luck with their complaints to consumer affairs or dealers. My 2020 telluride's AC just went out and like so many others we were told when we called that it was likely a rock issue. When my husband pushed to say we inspected it and only thing that is there are bugs. If this is an issue that is known to happen it is a design flaw and what do we do to prevent this from continuing to happen if we pay the over 1500$ they are wanting? He recommended a mesh guard.....smdh. This is absurd. We paid over sticker for this car because it was new and we felt like it would avoid dumb issues like this by having a solid warranty for coverage.

Any advise or help would be much appreciated.

I was able to get them to check the sensor and they unplugged and re-seated it that day. So far the AC has been going strong for a couple of weeks now.

What was the final resolution? Did you swap the condenser? Did it happen again afterwards? I am having this issue now and I definitely have not done any off-roading. I’ve only had the car 3 months
My insurance is covering the repair, so I'm just on the hook for the deductible. The independent shop doing the work is charging $1071 as compared to almost $1800 quoted by the dealer so its worth getting additional quotes.

Since I had less than 6000 miles, I fear this will be a continuing issue...
What repairs were required? Has it happened again?
I just had this happen to my 2020 Telluride too. The a/c all of a sudden stopped working and they are blaming it on a rock cracking the compressor. The dealership is quoting me $1900 to repair it. Sounds to me like this is due to poor engineering and should be a recall. I don't live on dirt roads where rocks are hitting the underneath of my car. This is definitely a design flaw. I would like to know if this is happening to any of the 2021 and 2022 Tellurides.
hey Steph, my wife had the same thing happen to her 2020 Telluride after only 2 months of buying it(it does happen to 2021 as well).

i recommend you find a reliable mechanic in your area who can swap the condenser for you (most mechanic shops can do this work for you, it’s not very hard, nor are any special tools required). The dealer always charges more and are beholden to corporate price structures.

to secure the condenser, you can try finding one on eBay, or rockauto.com. Or, the very mechanic shop you take your car to will have a dealer license, which gives them a minimum of 25% discount on parts. I got mine for 50% off (Miami has a ton of people with dealer licenses) brand new from Kia, and only paid $500. Then around $350 for labor.

additionally, there’s a guy who dedicated himself to selling customized Telluride wire-mesh protectors that can be installed behind the gaping holes, using some tie wraps. Here is the link to his site…. Kia Telluride

best of luck!
