Apple CarPlay Wireless?

Does anyone know if the Apple CarPlay on the Telluride is wireless or does it require the phone to be plugged into the USB? I know on most cars up through 2018 and 2019 models it wired, but on some of the newer luxury models they have moved to wireless. Given the Telluride's wireless charging pad, would be great if CarPlay was wireless too....

You have to plug it in. wireless would be nice.
Any chance this is something they can update with software? Not a huge deal to most people but given the premium feel of this car, its a little surprising.
Not sure that this something they could do aftermarket without there being some kind of retrofit. An aftermarket headunit might be an option, but that's a lot of money and effort just for convenience.
You need a wired connection for the Telluride's Apple CarPlay. Here's a video of a Kia dealer explaining how to connect your phone and they use a cable.

There are some aftermarket receivers that can support Apple CarPlay but they're smaller than the Telluride's 8 inch display.

From what i have seen to date, only a couple of the higher end BMW and Benz systems are even starting to offer wireless CarPlay and there are no wireless Android options yet. I think to me it just seems strange that this wouldn't be the natural evolution of CarPlay overall for Apple, especially with the broad availability of wireless charging as the Telluride has. I do believe it could be addressed via software updates, however, as it is just moving specific data via bluetooth over what is currently done, not a real hardware change at all.
My SX's infotainment system is Android-based, running 4.4.2. If we can successfully unlock the Android settings somehow, there are dongles available that can add wireless CarPlay to any android-based head unit by way of an .apk file that is built for the dongle. See this video where I have gained access to the engineering mode.

Let me know if you come up with anything thanks
The K5 and the new Sorento coming out has wireless on the base 6 speaker system. If you upgrade to the Bose system then you are back to Wired. The other drawback is no Sirius XM with the base wireless system.. very weird.
I bought it the first time this article was published. Since then, I’ve had a love relationship with this.
