Same problem here with our 21. Only on the drivers side though. Have an appointment to take it to our dealer who said they will take pictures and send it to KIA.

 

My Kia dealership has agreed to replace all of the trim. They even admitted it looks awful and they would not want me driving around with the car looking like that! At first, they did try to push it off on me, bad car wash product, sprinkler system spraying water on the car, not garaged, salt water (yeah, duh, we live in FL), but finally said they would replace. However, they are making me sign a paper that this is a one-time replacement and if it happens again, tough stuff! I am going on Monday for them to do the deed. I will let everyone know how it works out. Good luck!

Now, if I could just get KitchenAid to fix their defective refrigerator, I would really be happy! A girl can dream, right?

4/12/21: I have same problem 2021 Telluride Nightfall edition. Going to dealer to discuss.

 

I have a 2021 Gravity Grey and I am having the same issues. I took my vehicle to the dealership in Oct 2022, and they've been giving me the run around ever since. They blamed it on car wash then told me to contact Kia Customer Care who gave me the run around and is now telling me to go back to the dealership. We need to figure out how to do a class action lawsuit like others have with the paint chipping. Does anyone else have any updates that could assist those of us who are still dealing with this issue? It's incomprehensible how utterly horrible their customer service is....last purchase.

 

I agree, I will never buy another KIA, they definitely do no stand up to their bump to bump warranty. I can understand if the fading and chipping was the customers fault, but this a manufactory issue!!!

Just noticed today that trim paint is spotty around driver and passenger side windows. I hand wash my vehicle with good products. Still having an issue. Will call my dealership tomorrow. Anyone have any luck with trim being replace and not having the issue again?

When you go to the dealership, make sure they don’t chalk it up to “outside influences” or push the Chemical Guys chrome polish on you. Kia corporate takes the dealership’s word, and you’re pretty much screwed after that. The polish made my trim even more silver, so don’t bother with it as well. Kia’s neglectfulness of their production quality and loyal customers is unbelievable.

Yes I've had the same issue with it fading 5 months after I bought brand new and it looked horrible. I had it replaced 2x by the dealer and none of them matched and this last trim piece they put on is fading. The dealer said sorry they couldnt help anymore and to escalate it with the Kia corporate. Well ok then they asked and now im going to deliver Here is the number call and make a complaint 800-333-4542

 

I also have a 21, mine is literally rubbing off and you can see the chrome or whatever is underneath. Did you get the dealer to fix it? I’ve called and called and no response yet…

 

We had our appointment, they tried to blame it on car wash soap… and then proceeded to tell us only the one piece would be covered. But they would send in pictures of all the trim to see what KIA says, and also the trim is on back order for almost 10 months… Every piece looks like junk. We bought vinyl wrap for window trim to fix it for now because I have a feeling they won’t be doing anything anytime soon. Good luck with your appointment, hopefully they fix yours.

Bonnie you're lucky! Our local KIA offered us a $15 bottle of polish to help REMOVE the remaining tint. What an awful response, we are trying to push back.

 

Kia of Auburn (Alabama) said it was "a glare that can be seen at certain angles." What kind of glare makes chrome look like white plastic? Please look at the attached pictures and let me know if you could agree this is a "glare". I bought this car about a year ago and paid over 70k including stupid "premium" and all available extra warranties only to deal with their crappy services.

Looks like I’ve got the same problem. Hopefully KIA makes good on this. I have a feeling there may be a lot of these. I had one of the first Nightfalls and noticed the problem yesterday. Just googled today and found this.

I have the same problem with out 2022 Nightfall edition , the dealership acknowledge that they've had complaints but there's nothing they can do! I don't understand this should be covered under our paint warranty so I guess I'm going to have to go higher than the dealership to resolve the issue

 

Any news of if this problem has been fixed with the 2023 X-Line / X-Pro trims?

Same issue--2021 Nightfall Edition. I noticed it about 5 months ago and thought it was just spotting but it has gotten progressively worse. I will be contacting the dealer this week about it to see what they have to say. I usually get great service from my dealership so fingers crossed!

 

Figured I'd chime in as well, to keep up with the status of this stupid issue. I've been fighting this battle since around April of 2021...about 6 months after I got my 2021 Telluride Nightfall Edition. It looks like garbage and is only getting worse. I got the same excuse too... car wash chemicals, leaving it out in the sun, blah blah blahhhh. I shot that right down. Told them "so every other car in the world can use carwashes and park in the sun and their trim is just fine but the Telluride and its trim are so delicate and fragile they can't do what the other cars do? and this is supposed to be an outdoorsy vehicle??" Took photos and haven't heard anything but we'll see.

Any tips for a guy who has had zero luck with the back and forth Kia case phone calls claiming the dealership (Kia Northlake in Palm Beach Gardens) says it’s from “outside influences” and the GM at the dealership claiming he’s on my side and doing everything he can with Kia corporate? My 2021 nightfall started fading within a few months after I bought it new and is almost completely silver now. The Chemical Guys chrome polish made it even more silver! It looks like complete crap. It’s been a year of the back and forth BS. I’m never buying their vehicles ever again.

I’m having the same issue with my 2022 nightfall edition!!!!! I took it to the dealer today and was told they had to try the polish and send in pictures. They rubbed a huge spot of paint off on my trim and told me they would call me when they heard from KIA! 🤬🤬like WTF?!?!?!? Then the woman told me if they do replace it, it might not ever be all the trim!! All the trim around the windows looks like crap!!

 

Same here! 2021 Nightfall edition and the black trim around the windows is starting to fade. I keep trying to make and appointment with the dealership and they won't return texts, phone calls, or the online appointment booking! I have enjoyed my Telluride so far but the service experience has not been a great one.
